The African American experience in America. (Jan. 15,2008)

The African American experience wasn't always the best experience. First they were treated as slaves and as property. They didn't get any freedoms. African always tried to fight there way to freedom. Ever since the days of slavery, Africans tried to prove they were just as human as the whites. Around the 1890's to 1960's Africans were still being lynched, mistreated, abused, and killed. African slavery began to be not so common. Some people are still servants around the 1950’s. Africans began to migrate in different areas in the United States. The beginning for the fight of freedom really began to start after the death of a young boy named Emmet Till. He was from Chicago visiting family in Mississippi. A lady at the convenient store accused him of harassing her. He was more like a gentleman and was just being kind to the lady. Her husband and his brother went to go find Emmet to “teach him a lesson”. They find him at a family member's house. They took him and tortured him. Emmet was shot and beaten to death. Not only was he severely beaten he had a cotton gin fan around his neck. This gave the African community to will power to fight for freedom. The death of a young boy gave Americans the eyes to see how one group of people was being treated. The fight continued they tired to affect the government and the people. Such as the bus boycott, this idea worked so well and really proved a point. They do need to Africans in the community they treated them like they were animals. They really are no different from the average person. Africans, Mexicans, Americans, and Indians are all the same. Same body and different skin color. We eat food. We wear clothes. What’s the real difference?Africans kept fighting and proved the most of the point. Although racism is still present it has greatly decreased. Klans, churches, and groups members are in lower numbers. The fight for freedom is still continuing and not completely finished.
